Unique and Noteworthy Attributes of Müller & Tischer's Technique

„Probably no other technique, treatment or instrument used in dentistry is so universally accepted and advocated by the recognized authorities and so universally ignored by the practicing dentists ... as the rubber dam.” (Ireland 1962)
Many dentists associate the use of the rubber dam with a procedure that is difficult, failure-prone, troublesome and finally, frustrating.
On the other hand the technique by Müller & Tischer allows for the application of the rubber dam over approximately ten teeth elegantly and in a matter of seconds. Subgingivally located cavity margins can be exposed and better visualized by means of this technique.

General Advantages of the Rubber Dam

Time-saving Advantages

In operative dentistry, cavity preparation can start immediately after the application of the rubber dam. This results in a considerable time-savings compared with working without rubber dam.

  • the retraction of the tongue, the cheek and the lips
  • obviates the need for cotton rolls
